Auto-Book secures the appointment on your behalf automatically.

What is the difference between Slot Alert and Auto-Book?

Slot Alert and Auto-Book are two tiers of the same monitoring service. Slot Alert ($7.50, up to 30 days) watches for openings and sends you a notification when a slot matching your preferences appears. You then book it yourself through the DMV website. This works well if you can act quickly when you receive the alert. Auto-Book ($14.50, active until booked) does everything Slot Alert does, but goes further by securing the appointment for you. You receive a confirmation email with your appointment details, no action required on your part. Auto-Book is ideal if you don't want to have to check your phone constantly or rush to the DMV site when a notification comes in. Both plans are one-time payments with no subscriptions.

Is this a subscription?

No. Both plans are one-time payments. Slot Alert covers up to 30 days of monitoring based on your selected dates. Auto-Book stays active until an appointment is booked or your selected date range passes. There are no recurring charges, hidden fees, or automatic renewals.

BookDMV currently supports 12 states: California, Texas, Florida, New York, North Carolina, New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Virginia, and Nevada. Together, these states cover over 740 DMV offices and roughly 188 million people. Florida coverage spans 8 counties across multiple booking platforms (Hillsborough, Orange, Lee, Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Pinellas, and Charlotte), with more counties being added. Auto-Book is available in 11 states: CA, TX, FL (select counties), NY, NC, NJ, CO, HI, IL, VA, and NV. Connecticut currently supports Slot Alert only, with booking capability coming soon. We prioritize adding states with the longest wait times and the highest demand for appointments.

How quickly will I get notified?

We check for openings continuously across all active requests. When an opening matches your selected offices, service, and time preferences, you receive an email notification. For Auto-Book users, the booking process begins automatically. DMV cancellations are often claimed quickly, so automated monitoring gives you a much better chance than manually refreshing the DMV website. If you have SMS enabled on your account, you will also receive a text message.

After payment, you select your preferred DMV offices (up to 3), the service you need (driver license, registration, etc.), and your preferred date and time windows. Your request goes live and we begin watching for openings. Slot Alert users receive notifications when a slot appears. Auto-Book users have their appointment booked automatically.

Can I cancel my appointment after it is booked?

Yes. If BookDMV booked your appointment through Auto-Book, you can cancel it directly from your BookDMV dashboard with one click. We handle the cancellation for you and send you a confirmation once it is done. Cancellation is supported in all 10 booking-enabled states: California, Texas, Florida (select counties), New York, North Carolina, New Jersey, Colorado, Hawaii, Virginia, and Nevada. You do not need to visit the DMV website or call the DMV to cancel. If you booked the appointment yourself after receiving a Slot Alert, you would cancel through the DMV website directly using the confirmation details from your booking.

What information do I need to provide?

The information required depends on which plan you choose. For Slot Alert, you only need your email address and your appointment preferences (offices, service type, and preferred dates). No personal identification is needed because you book the appointment yourself. For Auto-Book, we need additional details to book the appointment on your behalf: your full name, date of birth, and driver license or state ID number. Some states require extra fields. Texas, for example, asks for the last 4 digits of your SSN during the booking process. All sensitive information is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption and is only used to secure your appointment. We never share or sell your data.

Is my personal information safe?

We take data security seriously and understand that sharing personal details like your driver license number requires trust. All sensitive fields (driver license number, date of birth, last 4 SSN digits) are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption, the same standard used by banks and healthcare systems. We never store payment card data. Stripe, our payment processor, handles all card transactions directly. Your personal information is only ever used for one purpose: booking your DMV appointment on your behalf. We do not share, sell, or use your data for marketing, analytics, or any other purpose. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard settings. We also support data export requests if you want a copy of your information before deletion.

Is this service legitimate?

Yes. BookDMV is a legitimate appointment monitoring and booking service. We do not skip lines, hold slots to resell, or use any special access. We are not selling appointments. We are a convenience service that watches for cancellations and openings across 740+ offices and books on your behalf when one appears. Every appointment we book is a real appointment, and you receive the same confirmation you would get booking directly. Our pricing is transparent and refunds are issued as credits if Auto-Book cannot find a slot.

What happens if the Auto-Book fails?

If an Auto-Book attempt fails because someone else claimed the slot first, your request stays active and we keep looking for the next available opening. You are never charged again for retries. DMV appointments are competitive, especially at popular offices, so it is normal for some attempts to fail before one succeeds. Timing depends on how busy your selected offices are and how flexible your date preferences are. You can check the status of your request from your dashboard at any time, and you will receive an email when an appointment is successfully booked.

Can I get a refund if Auto-Book does not work for me?

If Auto-Book is unable to secure an appointment before your request expires, you are eligible for a credit refund. Credits are applied to your BookDMV account and can be used toward any future purchase, including a new Auto-Book or Slot Alert request. We do not issue cash refunds. Appointment availability varies by location and timing. Some offices have frequent cancellations and openings appear daily, while others are more competitive. We do not guarantee that a slot will open during your monitoring period, but we maximize your chances by checking continuously. You can check the availability score on any office page to gauge how often slots open up at that location.
